Spinning on the “Wheels of Steel” for nearly 20 years now, DJ Luna is a DJ from the New York area and has played in many of the well known night clubs of N.Y.C. and out on Long Island. DJ Luna also has spun in some of the well known clubs and raves in other cities such as Washington D.C., Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa. With many connections to many of the well known record companies and N.Y.C. DJs, DJ Luna keeps his library of music up-to-date and fresh, spinning the hottest and latest remixed music found on today’s radio stations and nightclubs.

Here is a brief history of DJ Luna and his experiences of his DJ career.

In May of 1990, Ase Dj’s was inspired by a young adult of 13 years old (DJ Luna) going to a jr. high school dance in a small town called Holbrook, about 50 miles east of New York City out on Long Island.  After moving to another small town on the North Shore of Long Island called Miller Place, it took going to another jr. high school dance to  realize that a DJ profession was definitely in the future for DJ Luna.

After moving to Miller Place, N.Y., the parents of DJ Luna were renting an old style victorian farm house which was small and cramped, it was in this small and cramped house where DJ Luna founded Ase DJ’s. The landlord’s son of the property in Miller Place was a DJ as well as an owner of a mobile DJ company called The Music Man and it was this company and this individual who educated DJ Luna the fine art of DJ’ing.

Originally, Latino Luna, this name and the company A.S.I. (Awesome Sounds Initiative) was founded on September 4th, 1990. With the help DJ Luna’s older brother’s friend, the first amplifier and speaker was purchased for only $40.00.  After about a year of doing backyard pool parties during the summer vacation with this starter sound system, it was with help of a high school teacher that helped DJ Luna bring home his first set of matching speakers.

In the summer of 1994, DJ Luna and his company A.S.I. was moved from the North Shore of Long Island to another small town on the South Shore called Moriches where the company continued to grow.   By 1995, DJ Luna and A.S.I. experienced its first form of trouble with one of its hired help and was forced to rename the business.  After all the problems of having to rename the business and re-marketing the business under its current name, “Ase Dj’s”, DJ Luna’s DJ Company was bound to continue to be a strong and profitable business.

By the summer of 1995, DJ Luna and Ase Dj’s was the most requested DJ company for the area of Moriches and three other towns that neighbors Moriches named Mastic,  Mastic Beach, and Shirley.  It was also this year that DJ Luna and Ase Dj’s was recognized as the most profitable young business on the South Shore of Long Island.

In May of 1996, DJ Luna made its first night club premier in New York City playing to a crowd of about 3000.  By the time 1998 rolled around, DJ Luna and his company ASE DJ’s was contracted to do a weekly show in a family entertainment establishment named Q-ZAR in Sayville, Long Island.  DJ Luna also became the sound engineer for Q-ZAR New York L.L.C., servicing the in-house sound and lighting systems of all the Q-ZAR’s in Long Island and New York City.

In the winter of 1999 Mor-Mac Industries (McDonalds) contracted DJ Luna and Ase Dj’s to provide the entertainment for all the holiday parties in all of the McDonalds owned by Mor-Mac Industries.  By the year 2000, DJ Luna was known as the “Number One Club Music DJ on Long Island” rated by the popular radio stations of Long Island.  Also the year 2000, DJ Luna booked with Ase DJ’s, the company’s highest revenue income of one year’s time which that record still holds to this date.

In the spring of 2001 DJ Luna acquired his first night club account playing in a club that neighbored Mastic called Shirley.  The name of this club was called CHARDONNAY.  This is where DJ Luna changed his stage name from Latino Luna to the current name of DJ Luna. The owner of the club also owned a club in Cherry Grove, Fire Island, N.Y., of which DJ Luna also acquired that account.  DJ Luna was quickly discovered by the N.Y.C. club environment and was contracted to spin as a guest DJ in many of the well known night clubs of Manhattan.

By fall of 2003, DJ Luna was doing guest appearances in most of the well known clubs of the East Coast of the U.S. DJ Luna and ASE DJ’s was also hosting the most popular Saturday night party in a club called THUNDERS located in a town called Huntington. This party ran for more than 15 months at this club. On October of 2003 DJ Luna did his final performance as a DJ in NY at a club called The Vanderbilt where it brought in a crowd of about 7500 guests. It was at this time DJ Luna moved his DJ Company one more time to the Tampa Bay Area in Florida.

By December of 2003 and after some networking with the club scene in the Tampa area, DJ Luna acquired his first Florida account and became a resident DJ for a club called Chambers. By mid spring of 2004, DJ Luna became the primary resident DJ for a club just outside of the city of Tampa in a city called Clearwater. Z 109, a club near the St. Petersburg Clearwater International Airport, was open for three years and was open to a diverse clientele. DJ Luna was very well respected and became well known in the Tampa area playing the hottest and latest club remixes of yesterday and today. As a result, he has made a significant impact in the club scene in the Tampa area. DJ Luna became the longest running resident DJ in the Tampa area closing his residency at Z 109 when the club shut its doors forever on August 15th 2006.
